Lyme Disease Antibody (LYM Ab): | 96.0% | 97.1% | 96.7% |
Lyme disease is caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi bacterium, which spreads through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks, such as deer ticks. Once in the bloodstream, the bacteria travel throughout the body, often targeting the joints or kidneys.
Signs of Lyme Disease in Dogs
Only 5–10% of infected dogs show symptoms, typically in the chronic stage, appearing 2–5 months after infection, though signs may develop later. Common symptoms include:
- Intermittent limping or shifting-leg lameness
- Fever
- Loss of appetite
- Decreased activity
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Painful, swollen joints
Can Humans Get Lyme Disease from Dogs?
Dogs cannot directly transmit Lyme disease to humans. People can only become infected through the bite of an infected tick.

HOW DOES A-PET-CARE LYME DISEASE RAPID TEST FOR DOGS WORK:
A-PET-CARE One Step Canine Lyme Disease test for dogs is an Antibody Rapid Test based on sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test device has a testing window. The testing window has an invisible T (test) zone and C (control) zone. When sample is applied into the sample hole on the device, the liquid will laterally flow on the surface of the test strip and react with the pre-coated Borrelia burgdorferi recombinant antigens. If there are Borrelia burgdorferi antibodies in the specimen, a visible T line will appear. The C line should always appear after a sample is applied, indicating a valid result. This means, the testing cassette accurately indicates the presence or absence of Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease) antibodies in the specimen.
Results are ready in 5-10 minutes.
