- Prepare the test: Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and place it on a flat surface.
- Add the sample to the test cassette: Using the enclosed dropper, place 3-4 drops of the serum or plasma into S (sample) window of the test cassette. DO NOT use whole blood!
- Wait 5–10 minutes and read the results.
The test is valid for 12 months or longer from the date of purchase.

Relaxin is a hormone primarily produced by the placenta and serves as a key indicator of pregnancy in female dogs and cats. In pregnant pets, relaxin can be detected in the bloodstream as early as 15 days after the fertilized egg implants in the uterus. While small amounts may be present in urine, blood testing is a more reliable and convenient method for pregnancy detection.
Testing is recommended 20–30 days after mating, as early detection may result in false negatives due to low relaxin levels. If the initial test is negative, repeating it after one week is advised.

WHAT IS RELAXIN AND WHY DO YOU NEED A BLOOD SAMPLE FOR A DOG PREGNANCY TEST:
Relaxin is a specific hormone generated mainly by the animal’s placenta. It is usually used as an indicator of pregnancy status in female dogs and cats. In pregnant pets, relaxin can be detected from 15 days after the nidation of fertilized egg in the uterus wall. Relaxin mostly concentrates in the bloodstream. While a minimal amount can be found in urine, urine detection requires urine concentration and more work. Therefore, it is easier to detect dog’s pregnancy using a blood sample. A PET CARE Pregnancy Test for dogs and cats is a quick method to detect pregnancy (relaxin presence) in pet’s blood. The suggested detection period is 20-30 days after mating. Too early detection attempt may lead to a negative result while the presence of relaxin in serum might still be too low. It is suggested to repeat the dog pregnancy test after 1 week if a negative result was observed.
CANINE PREGNANCY DETECTION AT HOME:
Testing your dog or cat for pregnancy at home is simple. Besides the pet pregnancy test, you will need a syringe and a home blood centrifuge. First, collect your pet’s blood sample (syringes are NOT included in the testing kit). Centrifuge the collected blood to separate serum from red cells, or place whole blood directly into the tube with anticoagulants to get plasma. Please note, our test kits do NOT include any blood collection equipment (syringes) or centrifuges.
After you have collected the sample, follow the included instructions. From the moment you obtain the sample, the test takes about 10-20 minutes to complete. After you perform the test, the results are available at place in 10 min. This is an ‘at-home’ dog pregnancy test, no need to send it out to the lab. Try your nearby dog pregnancy test kit now!
HOW DOES A-PET-CARE PREGNANCY TEST FOR DOGS WORK:
A-PET-CARE Dog / Cat Pregnancy Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay (LFIA) for the detection of Relaxin in pet’s serum or plasma sample. The testing cassette has a testing windows. Each testing window has an invisible T (test) zone and C (control) zone. When the pet’s sample is applied into the sample hole of the device, the liquid will laterally flow on the surface of the test strip. If there is enough Relaxin in the sample, a visible T line will appear in the corresponding testing window. The C line should always appear after a sample is applied, indicating a valid result. This means, the device can accurate indicate the presence or absence of Relaxin in the dog’s or cat’s sample (a positive or negative result).
Results are ready in 5-10 minutes.
