REQUIRED SAMPLE
This test requires a dog’s serum, plasma, or whole blood sample.
You will need 2 drops of the specimen for each of the 4 test strips (8 drops in total).
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE KIT
Each kit contains:

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT NEEDED
You will need syringes to collect the blood. The test kit does NOT include blood collection equipment.
The test can be performed with or without a centrifuge:
- If using whole blood, you will only need a syringe.
- If using serum or plasma, you will need a syringe and a centrifuge.
TEST INSTRUCTIONS
- Read the instructions carefully before starting the test.
Once the samples are ready the test takes 10–20 minutes to complete.- Collect a blood sample from the dog (syringes are NOT included). You can use whole blood directly as a sample. Alternatively, you can centrifuge whole blood to obtain plasma or place it in a tube with anticoagulants to obtain serum.
- Prepare the test: Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and place it on a flat surface.
EHR-ANA-BAB TESTING:
- Mix the sample: Use the enclosed narrow-tip 10-μL dropper to add 2 drops of the specimen (serum, plasma, or whole blood) into the buffer liquid tube marked EHR-ANA-BAB. Close the tube and shake well to mix.
- Apply the sample to the test cassette: Open the tube and use the enclosed wide-tip 40-μL dropper to place 3 drops into each of the S (sample) windows of the cassette marked ERH-ANA-BAB.
- Wait 5–10 minutes and read the results.
HEARTWORM TESTING:
- Mix the sample: Use the enclosed narrow-tip 10-μL dropper to add 5 drops of the specimen (serum, plasma, or whole blood) into the buffer liquid tube marked CHW.
Close the tube and shake well to mix. - Apply the sample to the test cassette: Open the tube and use the enclosed wide-tip 40-μL dropper to place 3 drops into the S (sample) window of the cassette marked CHW.
- Wait 5–10 minutes and read the results.
TEST EXPIRATION DATE
The test is valid for 9 months or longer from the date of purchase.

WHAT ARE TICK-BORNE DISEASES (TBD) IN DOGS:
Tick-borne diseases and conditions are usually transmitted to dogs through an infected tick bite. There are several such conditions; some of the most common dog tick-borne diseases in the United States include Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis and Anaplasmosis. In most cases, a tick must be attached for 36 to 48 hours or more before the bacterium can be transmitted, but in some cases, it can spread as soon as in 2 hours. However, if a tick is removed quickly, it significantly reduces the dog’s chances of getting infected.

HOW DOES THE 4-IN-1 TICK-BORNE DISEASE (TBD-4) A-PET-CARE ONE STEP TEST FOR DOGS WORK:
TBD-4 panel test for dogs is based on sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay (LFIA). The test device has 4 testing windows. The testing window has an invisible T (test) zone and C (control) zone. When sample is applied into the corresponding sample hole on the device, the liquid will laterally flow on the surface of the test strip. If there is enough Ehrlichia, Babesia, Anaplasma antibodies or Heartworm antigen in the sample, a visible T band will appear. The C line should always appear after a sample is applied, indicating a valid result. This means, the device accurately indicates the presence or absence of corresponding tick-borne pathogen antigen/antibody in the specimen.
Results are ready in 5-10 minutes.
