This dog Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Lyme disease and Anaplasma test works with blood and requires dog’s serum, plasma or whole blood sample.
The 4-in-1 Tickborne disease test kit for dogs can be used with or without a centrifuge.
A-PET-CARE rapid home TBD-4 test kit DOES NOT INCLUDE any blood collection equipment (syringes).
If you are using whole blood as a sample you will only need a syringe. If you are planning to use serum or plasma, you will need a syringe and a centrifuge.
WHAT ARE TICK-BORNE DISEASES (TBD):
Tick-borne diseases and conditions are transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. There are several such conditions, some of the most common tick-borne diseases in the United States include: Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, and Anaplasmosis. In most cases, a tick must be attached for 36 to 48 hours or more before the bacterium can be transmitted, but in some cases it can spread as soon as in 2 hours. Anyway, if you remove a tick quickly, you can greatly reduce your dog’s chances of getting infected.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TEST MY DOG FOR TICK-BORNE DISEASES (TBD):
It is recommended to check your dog for Lyme disease, Anaplasma and Ehrlichia annually, as well as 4-6 weeks after tick exposure. Please note that some pets may be infected with a tick-borne disease but never show any symptoms.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF THE TICK-BORNE DISEASES (TBD) IN DOGS:
Most common signs of tick-borne diseases in dogs include vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, lameness, lethargy, swelling around joints, muscle pain. Some dogs may experience diarrhea.
HOW TO TEST YOUR DOG FOR TICK-BORNE DISEASES (TBD) AT HOME:
Checking your dog at home for 4 most common Tick-bourne diseases is very simple. Just collect your dog’s blood sample, then follow the included instructions. From the moment you obtain the sample, the TBD-4 test takes about 10-20 minutes to complete. Don’t forget to purchase a syringe if you are using whole blood. If you are planning to use serum or plasma, you will need a syringe and a centrifuge. After you perform the test, the results are available at place in 10 min. This is an ‘at-home’ test, no need to send it out to the lab.
HOW DOES THE 4-IN-1 TICK-BORNE DISEASE (TBD-4) A-PET-CARE RAPID TEST FOR DOGS WORK:
TBD-4 panel test for dogs is based on sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test device has 4 testing windows. The testing window has an invisible T (test) zone and C (control) zone. When sample is applied into the corresponding sample hole on the device, the liquid will laterally flow on the surface of the test strip. If there is enough Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Lyme or Anaplasma antigen or antibodies in the sample, a visible T band will appear. The C line should always appear after a sample is applied, indicating a valid result. This means, the device accurately indicates the presence or absence of corresponding tick-borne pathogen antigen/antibody in the specimen.
Results are ready in 5-10 minutes.
